Your Registered Doctor
Patients are registered with the practice, and are allocated a named GP. You can express a preference for a particular doctor for either all of your medical needs or on a case-by-case basis. This preference will be recorded in your medical notes and we will do our best to respect your choice. However, not all doctors provide all services and specific doctors may not be immediately available.
We hope that you will co-operate with us and help our students learn about general practice. You will be informed of their presence and if you do not want them to be present at a consultation your wishes will be respected. This will not affect your treatment in any way.
Chaperones may be requested by the patient or the doctor. If you think you will need an intimate examination please inform us when booking your appointment.
An interpreter can be arranged. However, if you are able to attend your appointment with a responsible adult, relative or friend who is able to translate, this would save time.
Our reception staff are trained to help you with making appointments, dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions, giving results and answering other queries. Their job is a difficult one. They may on occasions need to ask questions in order to help them to help you.
They are not meant to be a barrier between you and the doctors!

These experienced practice nurses are able to complement the work of the general practitioners. Their duties include childhood immunisation, holiday vaccinations, dressings, family planning advice, removing stitches and ear syringing. They also take cervical smears and run asthma, diabetic and COPD clinics.
An appointment is needed to see the practice nurse. They have clinics in the morning and afternoon. The nurses can be contacted on the main surgery line on 020 8777 8245.
Health Care Assistants
The HCA's see patients for blood pressure checks, smoking cessation advice and the monitoring of medical conditions at the remit of a GP or practice nurse. An appointment is needed. They also do NHS health checks for patients in the age group 40-74 years, who have no history of heart disease, heart failure, stroke, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, diabetes or chronic kidney disease and are not taking any heart medication. If you fall into any of these categories and wish to have a health check, please request an appointment.
We also have district nurses, midwives, a stoma nurse and a counsellor who are employed by Bromley Healthcare but are attached to our practice. They work closely with the doctors to help us with patient care. Counselling is also available at Bromley Community Counselling Service and Bromley Y. It is possible to self-refer to these places without a letter from your doctor.
